Jan Roodenburg worked for Philips Electronics for 24 years and lived and worked in Austria, Hungary, Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Netherlands. He was personally responsible for the management of numerous factories and suppliers, including functions as Production Manager in Vienna, Austria, General Manager of a Greenfield Factory and suppliers in Hungary which he set up, VP and Operations Officer of Business Units Monitors in Taiwan and as SVP, Business Group Industrial Manager in Hong Kong.
In his last position at Philips as Senior Vice President Philips Supply Management, he was responsible for the global supplier development and sustainability drive, bringing Philips to 85% transparency of over 1200 identified risk suppliers in China, Southeast Asia, India, Eastern Europe, Mexico and Brazil, and resolving the most crucial risk issues within three months. Jan was on the Steering Team of the EICC (Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition) between September 2006 and December 2008. As a consequence Philips was rated as benchmark within the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) category on Supply Sustainability and Philips was granted the no. 1 ranking on the VBDO rating (Association of Dutch Investors in Sustainable Initiatives) in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009. Jan left Philips in October 2009 to set up his own consultancy firm.
Jan earned his degree in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. Since then he has followed different specialized courses covering Supply Management specialities, General Management and Leadership. He regularly gives lectures on Outsourcing and Sustainability Management at the Erasmus University as part of their Executive and regular MBA programs.
